One of the first steps in making money online is getting a good web hosting service.  Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server for you to run your website.  The are hundreds of companies offering web hosting but you should not choose one without doing any research first.

In my opinion there are three key factors in choosing a web host.

  1. Customer Service. Customer Service is such an important element to consider when choosing your web host.  You want a company that will respond to your emails and take care of problems as fast as possible.  I have heard horror stories of sites going down and being unable to contact the web host’s customer support to get it fixed.  To find out if a web host has good customer service you can do a quick search on the Internet for the company’s name, there are bound to be some reviews, good and bad, on blogs.
  2. Fantastico. Fantastico is program web hosts have available that will install web software on your domain with a click of the button such as WordPress.  If you plan on running a blog on your domain then Fantastico is a must.  It makes installing and updating WordPress a breeze.
  3. Ability to host unlimited domains. If you want to have more than one domain or website make sure your web host offers the ability to host unlimited domains. Some only allow you have one domain or website per account while others allow you to have multiple domains or websites per account.  It is cheaper and easier to maintain if you have one account that will allow you to host unlimited domains.

This blog is hosted on HostGator and I couldn’t be more happier with their service or their prices.  What web host do you use and what has your experience been with them?
