I’m Going, Y’All

28 Dec

Blissdom Conference ~ Nashville ~ February 4-6 2010 As you can probably tell from the button to the right I will be attending the Blissdom Conference in February.  Two friends, Kelly & Louise, and I are road tripping it together from Texas to Tennessee.  Ironiclly though, only one of us actually lives in Texas.  :)   Go figure.

So why am I attending Blissdom?  As many of you know Kelly and I started Faithful Bloggers as a place for Christian bloggers to come to for support, encouragement, and advice.   When reading different  blogs and tweets about the people who were attending or hoping to attend, it became apparently that a large number of those people were in fact Christian bloggers.  While I do hope to learn and leave with some valuable information, I also hope to be able to connect with other Christian bloggers.

I want to encourage Christian bloggers to keep blogging for the faith as well as be encouraged.  I prayed about Blissdom long and hard before the ticket was purchased.  I asked the Lord that if it was His will for me to attend, that He would show me the way.  And He did just that.  So I’m supposed to be at Blissdom.  What for?  I don’t know yet.  But I do know that the Lord is working in my heart and many other Christian bloggers’ hearts, so the outcome is sure to amazing.

Are you planning to go to Blissdom?  If so, drop a line and let me know.  I would love to meet up.  I already know that I get to meet Jendi!  (So excited about that!)

Trusting Fellow Christian Bloggers

I was speaking with a friend last night who is also a fellow Christian who has an online business and we some how got on the subject of trust.  As a work at home mom I do work with and for a number of people over the internet, some are Christians and some are not.  When a non-Christian lets me down and does not follow through on their promises, I am usually not surprised.  However when a Christian does this I am disappointed and at time can become discouraged myself.

While one would think that you could count on and depend on a Christian to do as they promised, we must remember that they too are just a “sinner saved by grace”.   We have to realize that we are not perfect.  We all fail at some point in our lives.  So while I may become disappointed in the way a Christian may act, I have to remind myself that we are both sinners and that the Lord is the only one that I can fully place my trust in.  Psalms 118:8 tells us, “[It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

As long as we trust in the Lord and give our worries over to Him, He will take care of everything and provide what is needed.  While there is still a level of trust needed with the people I work with daily, I no longer allow them to discourage me, instead I try to be an encouragement to them.

Where Are All The Christian Blogs?

I’m really unhappy with some Google searches I have recently done. It’s not Google’s fault, at least I don’t think it is.  But when I do a search for “Christian Bloggers” do you know what I get?  I get Christian sites that are no longer active, blogroll sites, and a Facebook community.  No where on the front page is there what I could consider a “Christian Blog” written by a “Christian blogger”. It’s not until the second page that I find a Christian blogger’s blog.

Now to be honest a site called ChristianBlog.com does appear towards the bottom, but it appears to be a network of blogs all under that one domain name.  I personally don’t really get it.  I’m confused by the site.  So I didn’t include it in my research.

When I do a search for “Christian Blogger” I do see more blogs on the front page but again a majority of them are not active and haven’t been for months or longer.  It wasn’t until searched for “Christian blog” did I find an active Christian blog on the front page of a Google search but there were only a few.

So my question is, Where are all the Christian blogs?  I know they are out there.
