If we want to be able to teach others about God’s love and what the Bible teaches, then we need to study God’s Word.

I know there are a lot of Bible study resources online but I find doing my Bible study online to be distracting. I was always want to check my email or tweeter account instead of actually studying the Word of God. However I don’t like having to pull out different books (the Bible, dictionary, commentaries) out to study. So I like the idea of doing my Bible study online because I have access to the different versions of the Bible, dictionaries, and commentaries all online.

I just recently discovered Bible Explorer, which is a free software program, that you can download and use for Bible studies. You can also download many different free commentaries and such to use with it as well. I think this may be a good alternative to doing my studies online. I would have everything I need in one place without the distractions of the Internet.

I have just downloaded it today, so I will let you know how it goes. Have you ever used Bible Explorer? If so, what did you think. I would love to hear your opinions on it.

To be able to blog the Bible you must first know the Bible. By blogging the Bible I mean incorporating biblical virtues and characteristics into your blog. In order to include biblical principals in your blog you must first know what those principals are and in order to know that you must read the Bible.

2 Timothy 2:15 tells us, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

2 Timonthy 2:15 explains that a person who who is studying and “rightly dividing the word of truth” should not be ashamed with his/her work. The only person person we need approval from is God. “Rightly dividing the word of truth” simply means sharing the Word the of God truthfully. To do this we must study the Bible. Our readers want the truth and it is our job to give it to them.

When we are ministering to non-Christians on our blogs it is important that we give them the truth. Your blog may be the only chance that reader has to hear about the Lord and His love. If you are writing about spiritual related topics without knowing what The Word of God says about that topic, you could be steering your readers down the wrong path.

The value of your blog is not the only thing that will increase by Bible study, but so will your relationship with the Lord. It’s a win-win situation.

The first book I saw is actually titled Blogging the Bible. Amazon does not say much about this book so I’m not sure what is about.

The second book I saw is called The Blogging Church. According to Amazon this book “offers church leaders a field manual for using the social phenomenon of blogs to connect people and build communities in a whole new way. Inside you will find the why, what, and how of blogging in the local church. Filled with illustrative examples and practical advice, the authors answer key questions learned on the frontlines of ministry: Is blogging a tool or a toy? What problems will blogging solve? How does it benefit ministry? How do I build a great blog? and Who am I blogging for?” It sounds like a very interesting book.

Another book I found is titled Blogging for God Devotional but Amazon does not tell me anything about this book either.

Have you found any books on the topic of blogging the Bible? If so, I would love to hear about them.

You may be asking what exactly do I mean by “blogging the Bible” so let me explain. As Christians we are instructed to show the love of Jesus to others in John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”

Blogging is a great way to show people Christ’s love. You don’t even have to blog about your faith or post biblical devotions to do so either.

Of course incorporating Bible verses in your blog is a great and easy way to show the love of Christ. After all the Word is God according to John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” You could even add a Verse of the Day widget your sidebar. But what if you don’t have a blog in which you can easily add scripture into where the topic is not faith related?

Having a loving attitude towards others is another way we can show the love of Christ on our blogs. Do you help a reader or fellow blogger when the need arises? Jesus is known for helping others. He is the ultimate good Samaritan. Do you live hurtful or hateful comments on other blogs? Leaving rude or hateful comments is not following the commandment given to us in John 13:34, to love one another. How you deal with people goes along way in showing the Jesus’ love for others and this applies in the blogging world too.

For more tips about “blogging the Bible” be sure to sign up for my newsletter, “Faith, Family, and Business”. By signing up you will also receive a free copy of my special report, “Blending Christian Virtues Into Your Blog” which gives you Biblical examples of how you can be “blogging the Bible”. You can sign up on the sidebar – it’s quick and painless, just enter your name and email address and you are good to go.
